After Hurricane Katrina struck the area in August 2005, he was displaced from Louisiana. He returned to Louisiana at the beginning of 2006 to complete his Cardiology Training. Due to constraints of patients in the area, he worked and focused in the area of EP as he worked hand in hand with one of the most renowned Electrophysiologist in the area traveling to Lafayette, Monroe, the North Shore, and Ocean Springs MS. He continued implanting Pacemaker, Defibrillators and BIV devices. He has developed extensive expertise in the field of EP device implantation.
He earned his M.D. in 1994 from UNPHU and then completed his residency at Morehouse School of Medicine. He also completed his fellowship from Tulane University Hospital and Clinic. He has a physician’s license from the state of Louisiana and is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
Currently, Dr. Deffer is affiliated with East Jefferson General Hospital/ LCMC 2008 – Present and is licensed to practice in Lousiana, Georgia, and Florida.
